“Women deserve meaningful health coverage,” -Insurance Commissioner Mike Kreidler

Women in Washington State will benefit from early reforms under the Affordable Care Act starting August 1st, 2012. The new benefit will expand coverage on preventative services for women. Plans can no longer charge a co-payment, a deductible, or coinsurance when preventative services are provided by a care provider from within the network.

Covered preventative services include:

  • Well-woman visits
  • Gestational diabetes screening
  • HPV testing
  • Counseling for sexually transmitted infections
  • Counseling and screening for HIV
  • Domestic violence screening
  • Breastfeeding supplies

It is imperative we stay on course with implementation of the Affordable Care Act. No one wants to see these reforms reversed or miss out on those we will soon see in coming months.
